Returned from My First Racers Reunion

Stock Car Racing History

I have been forwarned, and dispite my own trepidations, I offer this first post since returning home from the GREAT Hillsborough event.

I finnally got to meet 'The Legend', and despite being warned about him and listening to all the inuendos, I actually found Tim to be a NICE guy, with talent to boot. Thankfully, he has a great sense of humor as well.

MWR

Current NASCAR

Just a few thoughts here:

Jeff: I am way impressed with the manner that you present your viewpoint, as I believe that you have presentedthe most appropriate evaluation of this issue. Make sure we get a chance to meet each other.

Regarding the 'don't mess with the chase racers': The incident occured at a pre-chase race.

Regarding 'don't alter the outcome of the race'????? I thought that was the intent of starting the race. Would you suggest not passing on the last lap? Not changing two tires to gain track position? What about NASCARS own penchant for throwing a caution for 'debris' on the track with 5 laps to go, when the leader has a straight away lead ahead of the pack?

This type of 'manipulating' a finishing position has been going on for many, many years and is only being discussed now, because of NASCAR doing such a poor job of pointing it out, and it was done very poorly to begin with, and it was at a decidedly critical point in the season.

You can find every team that follows the rules at the tail end of the field.

These are just my thoughts!

Tim, thank you for your reply. I was'nt 'fishing', but it is kind of you to respond. I got an email that directed me to this site in response to Dennis Andrews, and did not know the correct way to respond to him directly, or the others, and did not want his/their/your thoughtfulness to go un-noticed.

Thanks again!

Good morning Roland:

Your site is growing and I still review it from time to time, as I am getting closer to writing that book, and am continuing to doing a lot of research. I wish I had paind more attention to saving 'stuff' while i was still involved.

I particularly appreciate your including me on you website. It was very kind of you and I appreciate it. I still plan on visiting with you if I get back down your way.

The Power of Danica Patrick

Administrative

3. It has been determined that the Danica leading the 500 is NOT the first time a good looking woman was chased by 42 men.

"I don't care you you are, that's funny right there" LMAO.

Thanks for the contuinuing interest.

I too, have checked the schedules and agree with what has been presented, but I still have a memory of going to Texas, Phoenix and California, but it would not be the first time I had a memory mishap!

Need some Help with old NASCAR Winston Cup Schedule

Hey Dave,

I worked on the Kenny Rogers Movie 'SixPack' for two weeks, but was heavily involved in the Burt Reynolds/Hal Needham Movie 'Stroker Ace'. I supplied 90 percent of the cars and trucks and all the pit equipment and drove the '7-Eleven' car.

I have just written some segments of the book about that involvement and here is the links to the htree 'stories'

Two Bird for Burt http://www.mantiquesresto.com/aboutus/Stories/twobirds.htm

Wounded Bird http://www.mantiquesresto.com/aboutus/Stories/wounded%20bird.htm

Lucky Penny http://www.mantiquesresto.com/aboutus/Stories/lucky%20penny.htm

I had not even heard about the "stockers' tv series. If it was anything like the movie making, you would need every other week off to give your stomach a rest from all the laughing!!!
