dave - thanks for this - i remember going to dale sr farm riding in that old truck - he would never ask you to help him - just grab that rake and move that - then he would keep talking and next thing you knew you had helped him clean all the barn stalls - lunch was boiled ham sandwich with home grown tomato - miss those days - seemed like time just flew by - the old drivers were genuine people - i allways liked humpy wheeler - it just doesnt seem right him not being there anymore - i deer hunt some in the low country and see cale once in a while - see harry gant when i go to taylorsville - i miss all the old drivers - they had style .
cody - at charlotte one time dave marcis was laps down and he and morgan both spun off turn four when morgan went to lap him - he walked over to dave marcis car - dave pulled his window net down and morgan started punching him through the window - ive been around morgan plenty and he wasnt allways a ray of sunshine - but i allways thought he was funny as hell - he has mellowed with age .
i love this car - and what a lineup of drivers - i loved watching dale drive in the turns on the old bias ply tires - he would just jerk on that wheel - saw him get the car loose and save it more times than i can remember - robert gee was great - what an awesome person - thanks dave .
ol sue patrick - shes allways good for some comic relief and a caution - - she ought to be racing lawn mowers - .
from what i understand it was a pretty tough comprehensive course - not cheap for those days - lots of drivers worked there as instructors - not just the ones listed on the original brochure - pretty good line up though - if you pull up the popular mechanics link you will notice stick elliott name on the roof of the car - this is the richard howard owned howards furniture number forty seven stick drove in the charlotte races - stick elliott also worked as an instructor at the school - when elvis did speedway stick took him for a ride and spun the car through the grass - gave the king quite a thrill i was told .
here is one name not on the list - one of the all time best - lets hear it for - tim flock !!! .
johnny - i was at that race - we were at concord sat nite and it started raining so alot of guys left and went to cherokee - fat cat spun him out off of turn four - sticks car was overheating - i think it was a water pump - on cautions he would drive around the track real slow to try and cool it off - but the car was getting weaker and weaker - there were only a few laps left - the thing about it was stick never got mad or shouted at anyone - you just knew you had it coming - and he was the best at paying it back - also do you remember stick driving a yellow number four camaro - sponsored by roberta factory outlet - it was yellow when he won the shrine one hundred - but latter they painted the car blue with a white top i think - still number four - do you remember this car .
ol sue patrick - the marketing machine rolls on - did he say she was voted nascars most popular driver - just makes you want to run and start a marketing company - just keep it all on the surface - not only is the game on the market but she is too if anyone is interested - dale jr maybe - .
