HARD TOPIC

Uncategorized

The topic also is; is there really a gas crisis, or is this all being driven by our dependence on foreign crude, and the greedy oil countries trying to choke us to death, through our wallets. The other topic is. The idea to go green, I say prove to me that we are experiencing global warming. I have done a lot of reading for and against the theory of global warming, and this has not been proven to me to be real. I feel that the green and the global warming is a made up scare by a certain group in politics. If you remember when the "green" idea first hit, it was overnight that Toyota and others had a hybrid already for the market. Seems kind of odd to me that as soon as it is announced that we were burning up the globe and we needed to be green that the autos were out within a week. Hmm what about the time that it takes to design and test a new car, before it hits the market. This was planned and had been coming for some time.I do agree that we need to be good stewards in protecting our country and global pollution control. This is to assure our health and safety, not to cool the globe off, because it is not heating up.If we are to clean the pollution up, this needs to be a global effort, not just a US thing. I was in Russia a few years ago, on the mission field in southern Siberia. I went through probably a dozen cities and towns in Russia. In every town and city that I went to there were huge coal burning smoke stacks every few miles, just billowing out black smoke choking the air and covering the areas in black soot. I would come into the hotel in the evenings and blow black soot from my nose. This is the way that the Russians heat the homes; there is a piping system that pipes steam from the heat plants with the huge stacks to folks homes. I share this, to say that the wind patterns travel from west to east across this country. Does anyone think that this pollution does not travel on the weather systems and winds coming over us from Russia? If we are to clean up the environment, this needs to be a global effort, and not just an American effort.Pastor Ken Sharpe

As Jeff said, go 1000 laps and then ask the question. This SPORT is so brutal on the body, and mind. Sit inside of a sauna for 4 1/2 hours and then add the strain of thinking at 200 mph and the physical aspect of wrestling a car for 500 miles at 200 Mph.Pastor Ken

It is pretty evident that you are not a Nascar fan? BTW, the group here is not so much about the current Nascar anyways. This is Racers REUNION.com. This is for those who were really drivers and cared about the sport and the fans, unlike today's drivers.Pastor Ken

Christmas Makes me Cry

-RacersReunion® OUTREACH

I was attending a Christmas Paegent at a local Church last night in Greensboro, NC. A song was performed that I have to admit that I was not familiar with. I am not sure who the author is either at this time. This song really says it all about my feelings this time of the year and especially this year, as our troops are still fighting for our freedom in a far away land. I have to admit that this is my new favorite song for this time of the year. This song will bring about the tears and emotions. The song is called; Christmas makes me Cry.I have posted the lyrics below, just read the words, it is almost in a poem fashion. To the author of this song, thank you my friend.I think of loved ones whove passed awayAnd I pray their resting in a better placeI think of memories of years gone byAnd sometimes Christmas makes me cryI think of soldiers across the seaAnd Sometimes I wonder why its them instead of meFor my freedom they give their livesAnd sometimes Christmas makes me cryTears of thankfulness, tears of hopeI cry tears of joy at Christmas cause I knowThere is peace on earth for every heart to findAnd sometimes Christmas makes me cryI think of families, I think of homeAnd say a prayer for those who spend this time aloneCause love can reach out into a silent nightAnd thats why Christmas makes me cryTears of thankfulness, tears of hopeI cry tears of joy at Christmas cause I knowThere is peace on earth for every heart to findAnd sometimes Christmas makes me cryI think of Mary and the virgin birthAnd Im amazed at how much God thinks were worthThat He would send His only Son to dieAnd sometimes Christmas makes me cryTears of thankfulness, tears of hopeI cry tears of joy at Christmas cause I knowThere is peace on earth for every heart to findAnd sometimes Christmas makes me cry

Prayer Request for one of our own

-RacersReunion® OUTREACH

Hello gang,Below is a letter that I received from a member here on RReunion. I will of course not mention the name of the person. Please keep her in your prayers. If you would like to help in anyway this Christmas season. Email me.Hello Pastor Ken! My name is XXXXXX, and I joined a few months ago, and then things went really bad in my home life. My husband and I found out on September first that we are expecting our 4th child, well, he became psycally abusive. I was finally able to leave him and flee to a domestic violence shelter on the sixth of November. My unborn baby is still doing well, I just found out that it is a boy. My children and I need prayers in hopes of a housing voucher I applied for in my county is approved soon so that my children and I can get into our own home before christmas. I finally found a job and had my first day today, so god has answered that prayer, so I will have my first paycheck in time to buy the children a few items for under the tree. But we could also use some prayers that the courts find him guilty of felony child abuse and domestic violence. I would really appreciate the prayers. If you post this in the prayer request section of this group, can you please post is without mentioning my name.THank you very much in advance.God bless you!XXXXXXXPastor Ken SharpeRacers Reunion Outreach Chaplain

Thanksgiving Proclamation

-RacersReunion® OUTREACH

I would like to share this with the group on this special day of Thanksgiving. This is the proclamation to make Thanksgiving a National holiday. Please enjoy and reflect on this. The first Thanksgiving was with the Pilgrims and Indians as we know. The day has been celebrated and was picked up and decided that the first Thursday in November by President George Washington that this would be the day set aside by our country to celebrate giving thanks for our harvest, land, and savior!Abe Lincoln made the proclamation that the 3rd Thursday in November would be celebrated as our national day to give thanks.Remember today when you give thanks for the food, also give thanks for all that the Lord has done and is doing in all our lives. Pray for the future of our country please.Following is the 1863 Lincoln Presidential Proclamation - celebrated shortly after Lincoln committed his life to Christ and celebrated while America was still in the midst of its Civil War. It was this proclamation which eventually led to the establishment of our national Thanksgiving holiday.By the President of the United States of AmericaThe year that is drawing toward its close has been filled with the blessings of fruitful years and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the Source from which they come, others have been added which are of so extraordinary a nature that they can not fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever-watchful providence of Almighty God.In the midst of a civil war of unequaled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign states to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere, except in the theater of military conflict, while that theater has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union.Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the field of peaceful industry to the national defense have not arrested the plow, the shuttle, or the ship; the ax has enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than theretofore. Population has steadily increased notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege, and the battlefield, and the country, rejoicing in the consciousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom. No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart and one voice, by the whole American people. I do therefore invite my fellow-citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners, or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it, as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes, to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility, and union. In testimony wherof I have herunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.[Signed]A. Lincoln
