One Step Closer to an Event at the Old Columbia Speedway

After receiving preliminary permission to use the Old Columbia Speedway for a RacersReunion event, Jim Seay and I had a meeting with one of the brothers who own the site along with a representative of the Columbia Sports Council. From this meeting we received "offical" permission from the owners and support from the council to procede. Unless we uncover some hidden hurdle that we can't get over, we will be having the first, and hopefully annual, "RacersReunion at Columbia Speedway" this coming April 24th and 25th.Preliminary plans are to have a vintage race car show, lots of driver appearances, and plenty of food and fun. After the meeting we visited the site and took a drive around this historic race track. I was surprised at how well it is preserved. This is an awesome spot for this type of event, and hopefully will be popular with race fans from all over the Southeast. There is so much rich history of our sport that was made at this track, it seems like the right thing to do.How do you, the members of RacersReunion.com, feel about this location and event? I'd like to get some feed back.Jeff

Jeff, unbelievable! I made one trip to Columbia in 1968, and........'little' Bud Moore put it on the boys (Ralph Earnhardt, Sam Sommers, Tiny Lund, Sam Smith, etc etc) in a 327 powered '65 Chevelle. Anyway, you can count on the 300 coupe being there!
