The Best of 2008
On January 25, 2009, RacersReunion.com will be one year old. When I emailed the link to the first handful of folks I really didnt know what to expect. I didnt know what it would become. I remember thinking that the members would ultimately determine the outcome. As I look at where we are today, I couldnt be more proud of you, the members of this fine community, for what you have created. Im listed by Ning, the host of our site, as the creator, but it is you that have molded this site into what it is today with your willingness to share your photos, stories, and memories of racing the-way-it-was. I am honored to have this opportunity to be among you as we share, elevate, and recognize the history of a great sport. As we reminisce back through 2008, with the New Year upon us, I thought it would be helpful to share some of our better times and most memorable events, interviews, photos, and stories. It would be most helpful to us as we finalize plans for 2009 to know what meant the most to you in our first year. Please take this opportunity to share with us your opinions:Best photo(s)Best video(s)Best story/blog/postBest event(s)Best feature of the siteMost memorable moment(s)What else would you like to see in the future?Thank you,Jeff,
I'll get this started by saying...the most memorable moment to me was when I noticed for the first time members welcoming new members...and referring to this as "our" site. It gives me great pleasure for you, the members, to consider this "your" site. Thank you for making new members feel welcome.
1.all the photos are the best.2. the video I liked best are of the 1974 Darlington but where is the last segment?3.the best story is the start up of racers reunion.4.maybe I am partial but the best event was hillsborough speedway and sam ard event in gray tenn with all the racers reunion group.5.the easy navigation of this site. if I can do it anybody can. I am a computer dummy.6. just keep up the good work and lets keep the memories of the old timers alive.
I was just looking back through some video interviews and want to say...if you haven't seen the interview we did in Dawsonville with D.W. Moss...you should check it out. This is one-of-a kind. To view it click on TV Interview archives from the "Special Features" menu...when the player loads, advance through Early Dirt Racers interviews...Dawsonville is right after those. DW is about the fourth or fifth interview.
I agree with Mike Skyes when he said easy to navigate web site ever. The video I like the best is "Old Car Races" Richmond in the 1950's the #89 car is Wendell Scott and the #283 car is Ray Platt. Enjoyed all of the other videos as well. The photos are great, love the pictures of the old coupes. Happy to meet people with the same interest, I had no idea there were so many of us interested in the old days of historical stock car racing. I enjoy checking this web site out everyday! I am proud to say that I grew up in this time of history as a child and teenager in the pits of many of the old dirt race tracks.
