Another successful step for Columbia Speedway
Tree removal from the infield....and around the track...enough to triple parking will begin soon. We will begin the process of creating a master plan for the facility immediately. All systems are set on GO!!!
In a word, woohoooooo!
Gentlemen and Robbie Solesbee Get your nail polish!!This should be on the front page of the state paper!!This is what we have worked so hard for ,not a super walmart a place of rememberence! A place to honor the Greats of racing and our comunity!!Im loving this!!
We have a timber company to remove the trees. Our job will start with removal of the limbs, stumps, and weeds..lol.
Oh boy, the rumors will fly. From the first contact I made with Bobby Sellers about using the track for what became the first annual Love Chevrolet Columbia Speedway Spring Festival and Racers Reunion, it was hoped that the infield could be cleared.Any future plans will develop...but, personally, I would hope Dale Earnhardt's dream of seeing the track be available for carefully-spaced special event racing could eventually occur. For now, this has enoromous potential for hosting many other community events.Be proud of what you've done already.
Robbie, only you would bring that up (lol)...Jeff, I am so happy for you on this BIG accomplishment - it is truly AMAZING! I am there for more cleanup and I am happy that there will be many dreams which will truly come to life because of this endeavor. Be Blessed and I'll talk to ya' soon!
Rumors are also called scuttlebutt...and are based on what some folks hold to be "self-evident" assuming what they think is true...is trueTherefore, if they believe what they want to believe...well, can the Columbia 550 be far behind?Stay tuned for the further adventures of ... "Hey, did you hear what they're doing inCayce?" or "Richards's coming out of retirement"...and other 'silly season' sorts of wild imaginings are bound to follow. For now, just planning for the next Columbia Speedway and gathering in new Racers Reunion members event ought to suffice.
Thumbs Up my friends!
Just happened to be in Columbia today for my nephews wedding and was in Cayce killing some time at M&H Engineering this morning. On my way back to the VA side of town I stopped by the speedway and walked a lap, made me a toothpick out of a piece of guard rail and wondered if anything was happening to follow up on a great event. I got home tonight (Lumberton, NC) and checked e-mails and found out about this from Jim Wilmore. Cool deal... I'm in... The Terminex(?) guys did an excellent job of pest control for the Festival, a little bug spray will probably be all that is needed to prevent any bug abuse. Les' Rock!!!!!!
Sounds great! I'm in! Is it true the rumors I've been hearing that NASCAR is begging Bob Sellers and Racerserunion for a NASCAR date at the Columbia Speedway? (Ha, Ha, just kidding)
Here you go ladies and gentlemen. Columbia Speedway in 1994 and it appears you could really do some great lap times. This one is not going to die.Henry
Who do I need to contact to get a key to the track ? I'll be much more productive when the track is more avalable to me. Any ideas Tim?
I say we need to get a wood chipper.
I am looking for mine and Tim's words. Still nothing
