JIM GREAT PICTURES OF THE SIGN PAINTER, I HAVE HAND PAINTED THE LETTERING AND NUMBERS ON MANY OF THOSE OLD RACE CARS MYSELF.I GUESS THAT WAS THE REASON THAT I AM STILL IN THE SIGN BUSINESS TODAY, I LOVE IT.MY FATHER'S MODIFIED CAR #37 RAN AGAINST CARL BURRIS BACK IN THE 1950's.I REMEMBER SEEING CARL BURIS AND PERK BROWN RACE AT BRUNSWICK SPEEDWAY IN LAWRENCEVILLE, VA IN 1957 AS A TEAM, BOTH CAR WERE PAINTED THE SAME.

Jack, watching Larry painting the car was really a trip back in time, it was really fun to watch him work his magic, I can see where one could make a career out of sign painting, every sign is different and to paint race cars...who wouldn't love doing that!!!What is your father's name? That is pretty cool that he raced against Carl. The car was modeled after Carl's 1959 Sportsman Chevy at Daytona.
