MAARN:August 9,1989-Pg.17-VALLO TAKES HIS SECOND NUCKLES MEMORIAL- COLUMBUS, OH. - Aug. 6 - Ohio's hottest short track driver John Vallo posted still another milestone in his brilliant career here at Columbus Motor Speedway as he won his second John Nuckles Memorial 100 lap race. Valllo took the lead from still another red hot driver, Bussie Blackford with seven laps to go to notch the win worth over $5,000 to Vallo and his crew. The win will surely tighten up the regional Winston Racing Point standings, as both Vallo and Blackford are in the top ten, seeking a part of the pot of gold from Winston at the season's end.
Vallo and Blackford were chased across the finish line by nothern Ohio invader Roger Black, Dick Dunlevy, Jr. and Bill Cantley. The CMS pits were filled to capacity with over 40 Late Models, making for a super show for the fans. The four heat races were won by Tom Randolph, Mike Ward, Greg Marcum and John Vallo. The pursuit race for the eight fastest qualifiers was won by Terry Humphrey.
