Junior Johnson hobby car.
When ford went on strike in 1966 JR. wanted to keep his guys busy. They built a 55 or 56 ford and ran it at Asheville and Hickory. It was pretty interesting to see JR. and Herb Nab working on a hobby car. Ted lowe who was one of his mechanics drove the car.
He ran pretty good at Asheville but had mechanical problems.
I'm glad you kept all of these newspaper clippings. I guess this car was pale yellow like his cup car ?
What a rare shot! I recall the Ford strike, back in the '60's but didn't know Junior built a '56 Ford hobby car. Cool! The previous year, '65, in the midst of the Chrysler boycott, the Petty's went drag racing with a Barracuda
Ted Lowe passed away in the 60's,.
