1967 Paul Revere 250
It's often said that Parnelli Jones never won a race in his Bud Moore Cougar. Not true. He won the inaugural Paul Revere 250 in '67. Not a Trans-Am sanctioned race so it is all but forgotten. I love Bud out there working the pit stops back then!
Hey Robbie - If I understand correctly, the '67 Paul Revere 250 was a kind of tryout for what was to become the NASCAR Grand American Series which officially debuted in 1968. The TA was very popular and NASCAR wanted a similar series and they pretty much adopted the Trans-Am rules. So, cars were the same as TA - compact American and imported passenger cars. Engines were limited to 305-cubic-inch (at first). Basically, the 1967 Trans-Am field came over to NASCAR to run this new Paul Revere race. The Shelby Mustangs (Jerry Titus finished 2nd) and the Penske Camaros were all there, along with the under 2.0 litre cars like Porches also competed.
