We were rained out at Hartsville (S. C.) that Friday night so we journeyed up to Starlite Speedway (Monroe, N. C.) where I shot this picture. The track was extremely wet that night and I don't think there was a driver who did not spin out at least once. If I'm not mistaken, Smith was competing in a hobby division and he was the victim of the slick track more than twice. It was quite a night of racing.
