i went to a double header there one time - they ran fifty laps at the paved track and fifty laps at the dirt track - i take it the half mile dirt track isnt there anymore - its been a long time since ive been there - but i will never forget that day - at the time i was just a kid and didnt know stick elliott once ran nascar and paved tracks - he moved bob pressley over to win at the paved track - then moved freddy smith over to win the dirt track race - won them both - some of the best racing i ever saw .

the #74 car - is this the same car that chuck piazza once drove at metrolina and concord - i saw preston drive this car a good bit at cherokee .

THANKS "TRUE RACE FAN". I AGREE THAT THIS WAS THE GOLDEN ERA FOR RACING OF ALL TYPES. I'M NOT SURE IF CHUCK DROVE THIS CAR OR NOT....BUT HE PROBABLY DID. PRESTON AND CHUCK BOTH DROVE A LOT FOR THE SAME OWNERS. I KNOW PRESTON DROVE THE BLUE 55 CHEVY NUMBER 65 AND CHUCK DROVE THE SAME CAR AT A LOT OF RACES..............SO, THEY PROBABLY DROVE THE ONE ABOVE TOO. I KNOW CHUCK AND PRESTON WERE TOP NOTCH RACERS AND IN DEMAND. IF PRESTON OR CHUCK WENT TO ANOTHER CAR THEN THE OWNER OF THE PREVIOUS CAR WOULD TRY TO GET ANOTHER TOP NOTCH DRIVER........THUS, CHUCK OR PRESTON. THANKS AGAIN FOR THE COMMENTS...........RANDYPS........YES, THE OLD 1/2 MILE HAS BEEN GONE FOR YEARS. I DON'T KNOW IF YOU HAVE BEEN TO HARRIS LATELY, BUT THE NEW OWNERS HAVE REMOVED THE PAVEMENT AND MADE IT A LITTLE BIGGER....IT'S NOW A 3/8 MILE AND THEY RUN ON SATURDAY NIGHTS IN THE SPRING AND SUMMER MONTHS..........IT'S WORTH THE TRIP BACK....THE INFIELD NOW IS OPEN FOR ONLY THE NEXT HEAT OR MAIN EVENT TO LINE UP IN AND BE READY FOR THE NEXT RACE...YOU CAN SEE THE WHOLE TRACK FROM ANY PLACE AT THE TRACK AND IT'S OVER PRETTY EARLY TOO..IF YOU SHOULD DECIDE TO GO THIS SUMMER LET ME KNOW.......I HAVEN'T BEEN THERE IN A WHILE......SEE YA AT THE TRACK, RANDY
