That was the chevelle that shock NASCAR! Smokey Yunick was my idol, he did so much, now with this Chevelle he shook Daytona up in 67 being the first car to hit 180MPH, shook up the Ford and Chrysler factory boys. I have the Stock Car Magazine issue with the story of this Chevelle, actually Smokey built 2!!!!!!! The craftsmanship was excellent, his detail was amazing. But France gave Smokey a fit with this car and didn;t want a home made chevelle taking Daytona. Whatever France wanted he got! If NASCAR would have listened to Smokey they would have used fuel cells and Fireball roberts would have still been here, and with the softwall technology if they would have listened to Smokey, Earnhardt Sr. would still be here. Yeah smokey didn'y know squat right? there should have been a simple rule, "When smokey talks, shut up and listen and do what he says"! Have one of his posters in the shop and I always think when i have aproblem job, what would Smokey do?
