Gil Hearne raced quite often in Virginia in the 60s at Southside Speedway in Richmond and at Martinsville for both tracks' big modified races. In fact, he was the 1963 modified champion at Fredericksburg, Virginia. Gil was inducted into the Eastern Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame.
