Great shot. Loved this car and driver. Look how empty the seats are.

This was before they started putting 429 CI on the hood.

This was the year that some of the drivers went on strike and very few drivers and cars showed up. Dick Brooks won the event with his winged car but the fan turn out was down because a lot of the big name drivers were absent.

This was Richard Brickhouse driving the #99 and won the race. My dad and I attended this race, slept in the car in a field beside the track the night before. We were really disappointed that most of the big named drivers did not race because the tires would not hold up. I remember Bobby Issac, Coo Coo Marlin, Tiny Lund, Jim Hurtubise, and Dick Brooks raced. They also let the GT (Camaros, Mustangs, etc.) that had run the day before run with the Grand National cars.

You are absolutely right Martin, I forgot that Charlie Glotzbach was one of the PDA (Professional Drivers Assoc.) drivers that had boycotted the race and Brickhouse was driving the 99 Daytona.
