I had also forgotten about the "Circuit of Champions" label. With SAFE gone, we used that starting in 1972 withASA. The Midwest 300 at Salem, won by Darrell Waltrip in November of 1972, was actually the first race for points for the 1973 season. Our philosophy was the same as that used by Redkey and his partners in SAFE - there were a lot of track champions from all over racing with us.
