Memories for Cheraw Speedway AND Cheraw Elementary School attendees: The pretty lady is Mrs. Lear (Frances, I think) of Chesterfield, who taught sixth grade. She was the science team teacher with Mrs. Tillman (mother of Dan L. Tillman), who taught English. I almost positive that the man holding the trophy is James Leviner, better known as Ironhead Leviner. In addition to racing together, Ironhead and Daddy once had a thrill show, where they jumped race cars through a ring of fire. They used a length of chain for a seat belt, and one night the car landed hard, and that chain broke Ironhead's hip or pelvis, and he limped the rest of his life.
