This is rare photo since the Petty #43 was changed for only a brief time. It that a stick on the rear quarter panel for this photo only?

That's a great story Tim, and a classic and now that I know the story of the numbers being painted on before the raced makes this particular photo somewhat one of the rarest shots since that number style number wasn't used again until 1967 at Riverside as part of an experimental trial according to the book "The Cars of the King". That's very interesting Tim, thanks for sharing that. I bet your "Mama" was tickled by all the attention, lol.
