There were 2 of these cars. They were twins. One was set up for Knoxville Raceway on Friday nights. (This car here.) One was set up for 411 Raceway on Saturday night. Owner was Carl Roberts. A very nice manand goodfriend of my grandfathers

The sedan that ran at Knoxville Raceway had my mothers and my names over the rear window. (Sylvia and Jeff) I even had a white and black #6 jumpsuit. ( I think I was somewhere between the ages of 5 and 7) Carl Roberts and my mom were good friends. Also hung out at their garage off of Greenway Drive. I can't remember who had the other race car in the garage but I know they shared the space with another race team.

This is another memory I have. After every race at Knoxville we would all stop at the Waffle House in Halls and eat. I remember Little Bill Corum was there as well.

Cars at the garage would have depend on what year. You had the white sedan #6 of Claude, the silver sedan #9 of Bobby Treece, the orange coupe #16 of M.C. Kerr, and for a couple of years the orange coupe #15 of Tootle Estes. My grandfather was good friends with Carl from the days at Broadway Speedway. I was there some, but mostly a garage rat at Red McMillan's and Wayne Fielden's place. Great Times

Wayne I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't cross paths back then. I do remember the silver sedan and of course Tootle because I grew up with his nephews Ricky and Skip. You might think this story is funny. Carl bought me a little race outfit with the 6 on the back. Lightin' got mad cause I still pulled for the 6 and not him. Mom just told me that happened up at the Cow Pasture. Great times.

I am going to moms Wednesday and hope to get the picture showing our names on the back of the sedan and post it on here. That is if she will let it out of her sight.

Jeff, we may have crossed paths back then. My mom would baby sit Rocky Estes back in 1955 when Tootle drove for my grandfather. I also played football with Johnny Estes. Johnny passed away a few years ago. Rocky is still around and his wife (Sandra) did the lettering for my race cars that run at Tazewell now.Several of the guys back then were good friends with my grandfather. Red McMillan is my cousin, so I tried to hang out with him as much as I could. in 1973 I help Red build or maintain cars for several drivers; H.E. Vinyard, Steve Smith, Wayne Fielden, and Randall Byrd. I remember the first night at 411 when Carl and Claude came in with the new Chevelle. A lot of good memories from back then.
