1954 Williams Grove ad

For June 27, 1954 race - from Gettysburg Times.
Only one NASCAR GN race was held at Williams Grove. Won by Herb Thomas.

From what I can tell, at least two more were scheduled for August 15, 1954 and August 3, 1958.

The 1958 race was rained out & apparently not rescheduled.

What became of the 2nd 1954 GN race? I don't yet know.

Looks like the 2nd 1954 race was a rain victim. Here's the ad for the August 15 race and here's a story in the Monday Gettsysburg paper telling of baseball games scheduled for saturday & Sunday being rained out:

Thanks Dave. Wondered if 2nd 1954 race was also rained out. I got so busy looking at the 'trees' about the race results that I overlooked the 'forest' of other events in the area that day. Here is preview and rain out clip for 1958 race.

And while it may have been raining on August 15, 1954 in the Williams Grove / Mechanicsburg / Gettsysburg area, over around Reading a Pennsylvania Allison was winning a stock car race!

On June 29, 1952, Williams Grove Speedway founder Roy Richwine promoted a 100-mile AAA stock car race advertised as the first of its kind in the east. The advertising also noted that local sprint car star Tommy Hinnershitz had gone to Detroit to get a new Hudson Hornet to race in the stock car event:
