I happened on these photos of Ray Platte and an article about the old Dog Track in Moyock, NC. I was only 14 then and that was one hell of a race. The track was so green that the cars cut ruts in the first turn that were 6-8 inches deep, They were throwing mud clods that were beating up against the grand stands and fans were also dodging the dirt bombs.
I retired from the Virginian Pilot in Norfolk Va. one of the photographers found Rays car in a barn, his wife didn't know it was there. He had it restored and made it street legal and would drive it to worlk somethimes
