Our beloved flagman, Marion Johnson passed away early this morning. He flagged his last race and the members of the Legendary Flathead Ford Racing Association will miss him and we send our thoughts and prayers to his wife and family.

I have known Marion since 1970 he was always a pleasure to be around and he was a very dedicated to his job whether it was working on pit road on Sunday or flagging the short tracks around the south. I am better off personally by knowing him and calling him my friend. When they decided to make laps around the historic Hillsborough speedway there was no question to whom our flagman would be. When he threw the green flag on the first lap I was standing on the ground looking up at him and tears were in his eyes as the cars went by and it wasn't from the dust it was through the pride of being part of the history of the famed speedway.Marion has always been and always will be a major part of the Old Timers Racing Club and will be remembered for his outgoing personality and smile no matter how tough the conditions were. He is with his old pals Rufis and Johnny Jr. flagging a race some where. God speed and RIP Marion ......
