Fuel Injection: GENIUS!

NASCAR hand-wringers...........your ship has come in!! Faced with collapsing TV numbers and the equally critical BIS (butts in seats) numbers, the NASCAR think tank appears on the precipise of summit-sized mega step that will forever save the sport we all used to love. And, wouldn't you know it? The answer was right THERE the whole time. Fuel Injection! Yes! Fuel Injection.......or really the LACK thereof is the whole dad-gum thing that's WRONG with NASCAR, in a nut-shell! Brilliant...........just how do they keep coming up with these cerebreal solutions, anyway?Turns out, the boys back at the shop (the area 51 of NASCAR, the R&D lab) really have been working hard well, maybe.......See, crusty ol' Dale Inman remembers Rochester fuel injection AND Paxton supercharger equipped Grand National racers way back in 1957. Heck fire.........I remember Earl Moss running a Hilborn injected 327 in a '37 chevy coupe in 1963..............when I was 9 years old!! Okay so maybe NASCAR's super-duper research project a'int exactly cutting age technology. But what it lack's in technical wizardry.......it (hopefully) over-compensates in the SAMD (smoke and mirror department) arena. Some call it being politcally correct and some call it brown nosing.........I rekin' I call it brown nosing......is the ALL and the MIGHTY. That being said......THE hot term of this generation is GREEN............ahhh now we are getting somewhere. ........Fuel injection is "modern", "efficient", "uses less gas...........look mom no more hedder belching flames of 'unburnt' fuel"................AND HERE'S THE CAVEAT: FUEL INJECTION WILL APPEAL TO THE 15-25 DEMOGRAPHIC GROUP BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW A CARBURETOR FROM AN MP3 PLAYER.......................... My fellow N. Wilkesboro loving geritol junkies, that's who little Brian and the boys are focusing on.Back when we were cheering for Joe Weatherly and Fireball, was it just me, or was I the only one that would sleep in the rain in a sleeping bag with the temperature plummeting, because I was simply a race FAN? Honestly it never entered my consciousness the nuances of each car's fuel delivary system. I knew what a carburetor was, still do, but that fact did NOT make me a race fan. The RACING did. What I doofus I now realize I was..............I was there for the racing........didn't realize it was a fuel managment -system retreat and festival, that included and on-track demonstration and some red-neck fist-fights thrown in for realism and dramaticlly induced theatrical flare.Y'all won't have to wait much longer, either. NASCAR and some special team owner/driver/crew chief/engine builers............have ALREADY had ONE meeting on the subject. All the meeting-iers, were instructed to "prepare for another meeting and have some questions and issues for us to solve..........(since we are on a roll and the boys back at area 51 are working hard).Ahhh..........Toyota and GM are ALREADY on the fuel injection bus. Ford, after just spending a google-zillion dollars to develope yet another carbureted NASCAR engine (instant obsolecence, OUCH)) and the on-life-support FIAT-Chrysler camp, are dragging their feet. What about Volks-VAGEN and BMW hmmmmmmm? They'd probably belly-up to the Fuel Injection bar. But, there's still hope. Jack Roush is already laying out the blue-prints of what would be involved .............."I'd weld the injector bosses into the exising manifold, and I'd put the air management valve on top of the intake,.........then I'd hook the solenoid up to IT, and I may have to re-route the starter wire to keep it from getting tangled in the crankshaft pulley........or I might not do none of that.........." But, Jack also raises the EVEN MORE sure fire conept.............if NASCAR goes with fuel injection, could CATALYTIC CONVERTERS be next?ATTENTION ALL NASCAR TRACK OWNERS: Initiate seating capacity INCREASE NOW it's unescapable. The silver bullet has be found.

What a post! One side of me looks forward to anything new in the "Present Day NASCAR", thinking anything different must be an improvement. But the long time fan in me hates to see this change coming. I also hated to see the COT come into the sport because of now different it is to what I grew up watching. I still do not like the COT, but I will try to remain open minded enough to give it a little more time and I guess I'll have to do the same with injection.I hope you are right and the silver bullet has been found... Oh, that was a joke!? Darn

Hey guys Randy Travis has already made a million out of a song about what you all are doing--DIGGIN UP BONES-----Tim sir you are the leader in that shovel works--these guys and girls in the under 35 bunch out there would not believe it for a second that we went through so much anguish and suffering just to drag an old cluncker,as they call it now, around to tracks to race, god i can taste the dust now cant you, anyway if they go the fuel management route as Bobby suggests the top end control is easy--how Jack Roush squeezes it for power is the game-----yall come on down to the track now and lets watch this new fangled show yee hawww---------------------memories
