Over the years, the Orangeburg (SC) Fairgrounds had the distinction of two different on-site race tracks. A 1/2 mile facility that operated in 1937. Its faint outline can still be decteced in modern aerial images.

Bobby, as well as I can remember, the configuration we ran was on a short 1/4-mile. The grandstand was covered and I think it was used as a horse track as well. It was part of the Rebel Racing Assoc. that included, Sumter, Pelion and Newberry and was headed up by Clinnie Hyatt and Gene Stokes.

Dargan, what the story on the "Rebel Racing Assoc." and Hyatt and Stokes? Are they still around? Sound's interesting.
