Macon Speedway

Located at the Macon Fairgrounds, the former 1/2 mile dirt Macon Speedway. Although existing since the previous century as a horse track, stock car races were conducted on the track from 1947 through 1956. The NACAR Grand National division ran several eventsat Macon in the early 1950's with with west coaster Herschel McGriff taking the final victory in a Frank Christian-owned '51 Oldsmobile on September12, 1954. The speedway ceased operation in 1956.

Bobby, wasn't this track known as Central City Speedway?

Tony, you are correct, it was called "Central City Speedway" Like many tracks, Macon experienced several different owners, and names.
