Hi everybody, I hope everyone is ready for a big, big weekend of racing!

Among the big events this weekend is, of course, the 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500 . Thirty-three of the best open wheel racers in the world will go at it on Sunday, fighting for the right to sip cold milk in victory lane. That got us thinking a little, and gave us an interesting story to tell over at Georgia Racing History.com .

While racers from Georgia have seen success all over the world, a victory in the famed Indy 500 has eluded drivers from the Peach State. This week, we introduce you to a few of the members of the Georgia Gang who have tried to make their way into the record books at the brickyard. Some stories were tragic, some were near misses, and some came close. You can read all about it this week over at Georgia Racing History.com .

Hey folks, set your DVR's for Saturday's Nationwide race at Charlotte and head up to Dawsonville for a HUGE event!!!!

Saturday, May 28 will mark the Grand Reopening of the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville. Festivities will take place all day, with a pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and lunch by the famous Dawsonville Pool Room. There will be a driver autograph session, ribbon cutting, car show and, of course, tours of the Hall of Fame. The Hall is located at 415 Hwy 53 East in Dawsonville. For directions, go to www.georgiaracinghof.com or give us a call at (706) 216-RACE for more info. We can't wait to see you there.

Hey, before we go any further, we need to send a belated CONGRATULATIONS to Georgia's own Bill Lester , who picked up a big win in the Grand Am Rolex Sports car series up at Virginia International Raceway back on May 14! Bill and co-driver Jordan Taylor piloted their Autohaus Motorsports Camaro to the victory, the first for both men in the series. So congrats to Bill and Jordan, and we hope its the first of many big wins we can talk about for you guys!!!

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week on May 28 to Ray Fox and Marvin Panch , on May 31 to Jack Baldwin and on June 2 to Kyle Petty .

Thanks everybody, and have a great week!
