This week, we've got a fresh column on a true NASCAR hero at www.georgiaracinghistory.com .Hawkinsville, Georgia's Paul McDuffie was a wizard with a Chevy engine. Racing out of Atlanta, McDuffie's cars won races in NASCAR's Grand National and Convertible division with legendary drivers Fireball Roberts and Joe Lee Johnson, including the Southern 500 and the World 600. He won races and championships with his friend, Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member Roz Howard, and when Chevy decided to bring a new team into NASCAR in 1960, McDuffie was the man they tabbed to run the team.McDuffie was lost in a tragic pit road crash at Darlington later that same year. This week, we look back at Paul McDuffie, one of Georgia's master racing mechanics. You can read this week's column by going to http://www.georgiaracinghistory.com .Brandon ReedGeorgia Racing History.com
