We've got something special for you this week at
Georgia Racing History.com .
This past weekend, we took time to honor one of the great pioneers in Georgia auto racing and one of the most important people in modern stock car racing. Raymond Parks turned 96 over the weekend, and for the 12th time, his birthday was celebrated at J.B. Day's place up in South Carolina.
This week, we take a look back at Mr. Parks' party and all the sights at the event, which was attended by more racing legends that we have space to name! So, if you didn't get a chance to attend, here's your opportunity to see what you missed by going to
Georgia Racing History.com .
In other news, get well wishes go out to Frances Flock, wife of the late Tim Flock, a member of the first class into the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame. Frances was admitted to the hospital late last week with some heart issues. Her daughter, Peggy, says Frances is home and feeling a lot better. She said the doctors have put Frances on some medication to regulate hear heart, and she says she's starting to feel normal again. She was unable to attend Mr. Parks' party for the first time in as long as anybody can remember (probably ever). So best wishes to her for a speedy recovery and we can't wait to see her later in the year!
Also on the mend this week is long time Georgia racer Mike Head. According to Brother Bill Brannon, Headman suffered a mild heart attack and spent some time last week at Piedmont Hospital. Head got to go home this week, and is reportedly recuperating. Get better, Headman - we want to see you at the Lakewood Reunion in August!
Happy Birthday wishes go out this week in memory of Harry Melling (1945-1999).
Thanks to all, and I hope everybody has a great weekend!
