With just a little over under a month left until the 2010 induction ceremony for the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, Mike Bell remembers a Georgia stock car racing pioneer and friend this week over at Georgia Racing History.com .

After serving in the air force in World War II, Atlanta's Jerry Wimbish went from air planes to fast cars, racing as a team mate to the great Gober Sosebee on speedways all over the southeast. Wimbish would compete and win at the Peach Bowl, Lakewood, the Iron Bowl and Daytona Beach. Wimbish passed away in 1998, but he will continued to be remembered as a member of the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame after the Oct. 22 induction ceremony.

You can read Mike's rememberence of this great Georgia racer this week over at Georgia Racing History.com .

And don't forget, tickets are now available for the eighth annual Induction Banquet for the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame. This year, five new members will be added to the ranks of Georgia's greats, including Ted Edwards, Ernie Elliott, Jack Etheridge, Laverne Kendrick and Jerry Wimbish. The banquet will be held on the evening of Oct. 22, and will include some new features that we've never had at any previous event, including a special recognition of all our past inductees! In other news, Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member Jimmy Mosteller is recovering from congestive heart failure earlier this week. Fortunately, this is a condition that can be treated with medication and diet. Jimmy's wife, Betty, also took a fall, leaving her with a slight crack to her hip bone. Please continue to keep Jimmy and Betty in your prayers, and here's hoping we get to see everybody's "Little Bitty Buddy" very soon.

Word this week is that 2009 GRHOF inductee Katron Sosebee is continuing to recover after recently suffered a heart attack. Please continue to keep Katron and his family in your thoughts and prayers, and we hope to see him up and around very soon.

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week on Sept. 26 in memory of Marty Robbins (1925-1982), in memory of Bill France, Sr. (1909-1992), on Sept. 27 to Chester Barron and on Sept. 28 to Suzanne Reed.

Thanks everybody, and have a great weekend!
