With just a few weeks left until the 2010 induction ceremony for the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and the 43rd annual Mountain Moonshine Festival, we take a look at one of the past Moonshine Festival Grand Marshals who has a lot of his own history and stories to tell this week over at
Georgia Racing History.com .
Buddy Baker was the 2008 Grand Marshal of the Moonshine Festival. Now, along with being a great NASCAR driver, Buddy is also one of the great story tellers of racing history. And some of the stories you just wouldn't believe, but they're too crazy to not be true! For example, the story of Buddy's wild ride on a ambulance gurney in Tennessee, or his encounter with "wild life" in Charlotte.
We take a look at those stories and Buddy's visit this week over at
Georgia Racing History.com .
And don't forget, tickets are now available for the eighth annual Induction Banquet for the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame. This year, five new members will be added to the ranks of Georgia's greats, including Ted Edwards, Ernie Elliott, Jack Etheridge, Laverne Kendrick and Jerry Wimbish. The banquet will be held on the evening of Oct. 22, and will include some new features that we've never had at any previous event, including a special recognition of all our past inductees! In other news, Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member Jimmy Mosteller is is out of the hospital after suffering congestive heart failure earlier this week. Fortunately, this is a condition that can be treated with medication and diet. Jimmy's wife, Betty, also took a fall, leaving her with a slight crack to her hip bone. Please continue to keep Jimmy and Betty in your prayers, and here's hoping we get to see everybody's "Little Bitty Buddy" very soon.
Congratulations to Pendergrass, Georgia racer David Murphy, who picked up the Outlaw Late Model division title at Gresham Motorsports Park during the Sept. 18 George Elliott Memorial. David is a long time competitor at the track, and is also a great supporter and friend of Georgia Racing History.com, having carried the website on the side of his car all year. Thanks David, and congratulations on your title!!!!
Thanks everybody, and have a great weekend!
