Hi folks, hope everyone is ready to ring in the New Year!
This week, Mike Bell remembers a popular local racer over at
Georgia Racing History.com .
"Fatso" Phillips was one of the most popular racers in and around the Zebulon, Georgia area. Phillips had come from a drag racing background, but adapted quickly to stock cars, and soon developed a big following, even acquiring his own, established fan club! But that would all come to a sudden and tragic ending on the Figure 8 track in Zebulon in October of 1967.
Bell and Phillip's sister, Martha Daniel, remembers the man lovingly known as 'Fatso' this week over at
Georgia Racing History.com .
And next week, we poll members of the media from all over the southeast to find out what the
#1 most historic moment of 2010 in racing in the state of Georgia was. We'll have our annual "Biggest Historic Moment Of The Year" story for you, one week from today!
Happy Birthday wishes go out this week on Jan. 1 to Dan Elliott and in memory of Ed Samples (1921-1991) and on Jan. 3 to Henley Gray.
Thanks everybody, and from all of us at Georgia Racing History.com, we wish you and your family a safe and Happy New Year!
