Thanks for reminding us Brian, this is more than a weekend of barbecuing, we'd all be eating rice and sauerkraut if it were not for our soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and coast guard.

My mother and father served in the Army Air Corps WWII. Dad was a B-25 Bomber pilot in Burma China (Flying Tigers) fighting the Japanese. He'd bomb railroads, bridges, convoys and troop formations. Once almost died of milaria. Once refereed a boxing match between Joe Dimagio and another pilot. Didn't talk so much about fighting the Japenese, talked more about his bomber crew and stayed in touch with them until his death in 1989. You always missed Lt. Cleland Earl Wilmore 22nd Bomber Group, Fly Tigers, Burma, China. My mom just turned 90 in April, she was a lieutenant in WWII, her most demanding heart felt job was processing the dead coming home from the Pacific War. She was assigned to a USO tour and took part in the on stage skits they'd do for returning soldiers.I'm very proud of their service to our country,.I too joined the Army in 1982 and retired in 2002, serving in the Grenada invasion, Panama invasion, Bosnia Peace Keeping Mission, Desert Shield/Storm, and during Iraqi Freedom and Afganastan. I owe my patriotism to my parents. My step son served with the NC Reserves and did two tours to Iraq and I'm very, very proud of him, more than he'll ever know.I've learned never to take my freedoms for granted and to work for everything I own, never burden my country with laziness, sloth, and to do the right thing when no one else is looking. God bless America, and God bless our men and woman serving in the Armed Forces.
