I agree that the races have a different feel to them. The added safety of the COT is worth the loss of excitement to me.

I think the main thing about the COT is safety, allyou have to see is the wreck at Talledega with that young driver for Mike Waltrip , I was a good sight to see him walk away from that! BUT the COT ties everyones hands with how to corect it and get it handling right, NASCAR will have to give the teams more help to get to handle corectly.

I think the "open testing" deal will be a blow if they approve it. You'll see the mega teams pull even farther away. You know, we as fans just can't be happy. Back in the day there were a handfull fo teams who won most of the races...the factory backed teams...everybody else showed up to run for 10th. How long has it been since someone won a race a lap...or 3...or 14...or 22 laps ahead of the field. At least we don't have that anymore. There's more parity tadyay than before....it's safer than ever before. Granted, the cars are starting to look the same...I hate that. What I dislike more than anything is....what the doggone drivers are starting look like. At least back in the day...you had to be man to handle that 4000lb beast...without power steering...without a spoiler to hold it down at 200mph through the dogleg at Daytona. ..with a ride height tall enough to run a good size dog under it. Now that was a handful! I'd like to see some these prissy superstars of today give that a shot. I think Tony, Dale jr, probably Edwards, and just a jew more could do it....geeesh how did I get off on this...?

as a driver and a fan i agree its not the same, yes safety is an issue but bring back the old cars.personally i drive a 1973 chevy nova with a stock 350. i just put a cage in it and here i am today on top of the point standings in my rookie year. oh and its very very safe, trustme my life depends on it.
