Wish the cars looked like real cars and keep one paint job

One of my biggest gripes I have is the lack of character the cars have. I can remember that back in the 80s and 90s the cars looked more like their respective makes. The noses on the cars looked like real grills and not painted or decalled on. Somone posted the ridiculousness of decalled headlights. I agree. What I am about to say is blasphemous to the stock car community and I realize I might get some heat for this. I apologize for those I may offend. I went to the 12 Hours of Sebring and enjoyed it. Aside from the prototype cars I was happy to see that in the GT Class the Ford GT-R and the Chevy Corvette looked like the real cars. It just blows my mind that those cars seem more stock then the cars that were racing at Bristol that weekend. Unlike the painted headlights, these were real. Real brake lights and real headlights. Even the cars sounded different. The Corvette had a loud low pitched growl. The cars in NASCAR lack character unfortunately lack character. Not even the one race paint schemes can hide it which brings me to my next point.

I don't know about you all but I am finding I cannot identify a driver because at times the paint jobs keep changing every week for some of these guys. In an age where Primary sponsors are not sponsoring a whole season this makes for a tough time trying to watch a race and keep track which car is what. Also makes for a tough time at the T-shirt trailer. Why do I want to waste my money on a shirt if the paint job on the car is always changing? I long for the days when it was easy to identify drivers with respective colors and sponsors.

I remember back during the Daytona 500 this year, that I couldn't find Bill Elliott's car. During the gatorade duels, it was a red #09. During the 500, he was driving a blue and sliver car with yellow numbers. I didn't realise that it was his car until 3 laps to go.
