When NASCAR introduced the Late Model Sportsman division to Virginia, Junie Donlavey built this #90 Ford Fairlane in his Richmond, Virginia shop for Sonny Hutchins to campaign. The letter "S" on rear quarter denotes Donlavey's Swansboro Motor Company. Hutchins' greatest rival, Ray Hendrick, was a construction foreman for his brother's company featured on the front fender. Note door handle cover. Blow it up to read "Built by Junie Donlavey!" Photo by Frank Buhrman on 8/15/14 at annual Eastern Museum of Motor Racing Cruise-In at Latimore Valley Fairgrounds, PA.

Here are some more photos of the Junie Donlavey 1964 Ford Fairlane #90 driven by Sonny Hutchins to the 1968 NASCAR Late Model Sportsman track championship at Richmond's Southside Speedway. These photos were originally posted by Larry Ledbetter on the Facebook page of Richmond's Let's Talk Racing radio host Joe Kelly on June 11, 2014, two days after the passing of Junie Donlavey: This car was also driven at Trenton Speedway as a modified by Al Tasnady.

Junie had a 1964 Ford Galaxy that Sonny drove at Southside and I saw it at Beltsville Speedway in Maryland around 1967 and he sold it to Bobby Ballantine who went out and collected a bounty for beating Bob Dobyns who won six in a row and then Bobby Ballantinewon the track championship the next year in 1968 in the Galaxy. There is a picture of it inmdscrhof.org on the Beltsville page with Sonny in The # 90 car on page 2. Thanks, Mike

At the only GN race I ever attended at Beltsville (the best GN/Cup race I EVER saw) on June 15, 1966, Sonny started Junie's 1964 Galaxie in 8th place.

Mike, my buddy, Frank and I learned a shortcut to Southside Speedway back in the mid-60s when we came up behind the Bob Dobyns car on Hugenot Bridge in Richmond and followed it west on U.S. 60 until it turned off in Midlothian and took a couple of backroads to Southside. Thanks to running up behind that extremely ugly looking Bob Dobyns Ford, we always used that route to Southside in the future for many years.

I see where Ben Turner, the librarian/historian for EMMR is scheduled for a Goat Rodeo appearance. I guess the Donlavey/Hutchins LMS car would be my favorite display that the museum has had.
