Stock Car Racing History

I am just booting a little thread to give some advice to those of you traveling to whatever NASCAR race may be on the weekend's horizon. Why? Because Richmond is going to be COLD for tonight's race, with temps in the 40s and maybe even rain that could delay the race or even push it to tomorrow. I'd rather be there today than have it be back in February though!

I guess this meteorologist is opening the door: what kind of fun weather related racing stories do y'all have?

Actually, Julian did have success in racing. He swept an ARCA (then MARC) doubleheader at Flat Rock Speedway on September 11, 1953. ARCA has no other records except that Julian won the races.

This is a fascinating link to an article about North Wilkesboro Speedway. It's mostly photos showing the sad state that the track is in.

Why'd they close the track again? (and NASCAR/Bruton hated it doesn't count as a valid reason. What a waste of a good, unique track that played host to some very exciting races (Nov. 1971, for one!).

I feel so bad for Brian Vickers.

For the fourth time in his career, medical issues related to his cardiovascular system have sidelined him. He is out indefinitely due to a return of blood clots and the need to go on blood thinners. Brett Moffitt will drive the Aaron's Dream Machine this weekend and Chris Buescher moves into the #34.
