"...some things in this world.......ya just can't explain........"*
*Charlie Daniels.. the Legend of Wooly Swamp
Science and engineering can't improveeverything! I know that's a tough sell for this baby boom-man-on-the-moon-smart-phone culture. Consider NEW Coke, LOL! Not every function is linear, nor every relationship direct. Nope there's the Charlie Daniels extra-dimension of the human psyche and experience, one that can not be easily measured......but that's not proof that it does not exist.
Bristol was a "10"...the proof was at the ticket office. Actually, if any event is continually sold out, why does it need improving, or re-inventing, HEL-LO? The answer, of course, lies in the widely held (and often false) philosophy that your'realways going forward or backward, but standing "still" is impossible...
Although he threw an engineering employee under the bus, Bruton did have the courage to admit a mistake was made, and that is admirable. Should be old school by August.
Robert, I agree. Fireball's death was as tragic as Dale Earnhardt's. At the time of his death, like Dale, Fireball was a NASCAR mega superstar. Also, like the Earnhardt situation, tremendous safety advances resulted from Fireball's death, most significantly, the fuel cell, and the mandatory implementation of fire-proof suits.
Auto racing has rarely seen a more horrible time than the 1964 season. NASCAR lost Joe Weatherly, Fireball Roberts, and Jimmy Pardue and the 1964 Indy 500 claimed Eddie Sachs, and Dave McDonald. Unfortunately 1964 was not the grim-reaper's last act, Billy Wade and promising rookie, Larry Thomas, were both killed in the 1965 pre-season. Very dark days,, indeed.
The 5th World 600 would have been the 1964 edition.......everybody remembers the 7th lap crash of Junior Johnson, Ned Jarrett, and Fireball Roberts.
Jim, you are right as rain on that one! Could not agree more. The media has waged the cultural war on the south from day one.......Amos & Andy, Mayberry, the Beverly Hillbillies, Dukes of Hazzard, Gomer Pyle.........and don't forget David Letterman, and Leno every night. NASCAR's caught up in this whole deal too (surprise!).
Hey, I'm there.......I watchSwamp People! LOL
AND don't forgetSwamp Loggersthat one's especially attractive as it centers around the homeland.....south-eastern N.C. Might even see some friends and family on the air.
Just might have a 'story from the heartland' about Rambi raceway
Is BB's Vintage show at Lil' Rock on Saturday the 14th?
Jimmy, will there be another vintage race car parade at the Rock for the truck race?
