HAPPY and SMOKE in BED TOGETHER???
Current NASCAR
Logical explanation is simple: $. As I saw tweeted earlier this week, "It ain't called Show Friends folks."
No real surprise to me about this rumor. Its been gossiped about for some time - and the pairing makes sense. I suggested over a month ago KH would join SHR. No announcement yet of course, but logically its the next destination for Harvick.

While I'm not an autograph hound overall, I have had a loose goal over the last year or two to get an autograph from as many former Petty Enterprises drivers as possible. I've obviously lost out on a few such as Jim Paschal, Buck Baker, and G.C. Spencer. But Hersh is one I'd still like to get. I've got the photo I want signed - I just don't know how to get it to him. I'd REALLY like the opportunity to meet him in person to get it. But I'd settle on mailing it to him - if only I knew how to reach him. His love for life and passion for racing is contagious.
My fellow Schaefer Hall of Famer co-founder Philly celebrates a birthday today. I was reminded of a trip we took to Rockingham for this 40th birthday. It remains my only visit to the track.
We went in 2003. I'm not sure we recognized the significance of that day's race. Matt Kenseth wrapped up the FINAL Winston Cup Series title. Bill Elliott won his FINAL Cup race. And following that fall race, Rockingham itself was down to its final bullet in the chamber. One more Cup race was run the following spring, and that was that.
I posted a blog entry this morning about that race weekend that can be read here:

Grand National Scene or Winston Cup Scene or whatever it was known by back then. Can't remember when swap in name was made.
For what its worth, here is a shot of Kyle Petty in D.K. Ulrich's Chevy from the 1988 exhibition race down under. I've always wanted to see a color version of this car.
How 'bout the recently mentioned Dawsonville Pool Room as Sosebee's #81 Chevy sponsor?
Talked to a friend of mine Tuesday. He had dinner with Sterling Saturday night. Said the shop that burned was Coo Coo's original shop. As the article referenced, he had 3 cars in the shop being prep'd for his son-in-law. Apparently, a valve on a propane heater malfunctioned the night before and filled the shop with gas. When the guys returned on Friday morning and started welding, the accumulated gas ignited. He said the guys were lucky to run out of the shop without getting caught up in the fire. If you'll look at the 2nd photo above, you'll see the top of a barn. My friend said its packed with hay. The fire department did what it could to simply contain the blaze to the shop. The real worry was having the fire jump to the barn - and then to Sterling's house. Fortunately, they contained the damage to the shop. Sterling has another, more modern race shop where he has fielded his own late model cars, the Busch car from many years ago sponsored by University of Tennessee, cars for his son Steadman, etc. Its apparently a fair distance away from Coo Coo's shop and was unaffected by the fire.
Oh man. And right on the heels of the news that Sterling has been diagnosed with Parkinson's related disease.
