Confession from a dale Earnhardt Fan

Current NASCAR

Confessions of a Disappointed Dale Earnhardt Jr FanJanuary 27, 2010 by RacingWinFiled under: Dale Earnhardt JrConfessions of a Disappointed Dale Earnhardt Jr FanThe following is a guest post from Casey Miller. Interested in guest posting? Please contact me.My name is Casey, and Im a Dale Jr fan.Junior. I first heard about you in 1998 when you showed up at Daytona to run the Busch race. I didnt have a favorite driver at the time, but I was keeping an eye on you. When you won 13 races and 2 Championships in 2 years in the Busch Series you had my attention. When you won your first Cup race at Texas in 2000, in just your 12th Cup start thats when I decided you would be my driver. It had taken Jeff Gordon 42 tries to get his first win. It took Dale 16 to get his.You really gave us fans a reason to be fans. And not just with the way you drove the race car, but with the way you handled yourself off the track as well.My heart went out for you after the Daytona 500 in 2001. And then again one week later when you crashed on the first lap at Rockingham. But you came back to Daytona in July and put that No. 8 in the Winners Circle. I was so proud of you.You owned Daytona and Talladega there for a while. You even won at Talladega 4 times in a row. I think you learned a thing or two about drafting and restrictor plate racing from Dale.Youve won the Daytona 500.Youve won 6 races in one season in 2004, and you have 18 victories so far in your career. Thats 39th on NASCARs All Time Win List.Youve contended for Championships, and I believe you will win one.But I was disappointed when you left DEI. I thought you should have stayed there and worked things out with Teresa. I think DEI would have been a NASCAR dynasty with you as the driver and majority owner. Teresa just would not give you the tools and equipment that you knew you needed, and she wouldnt work with you to make a deal for you to take over the company.Funny how as soon as you were out the door Teresa was down the street making a deal with Chip Ganassi.I was disappointed when you went to Hendrick Motorsports. After all this was Jeff Gordons and Jimmie Johnsons team.I was also excited when you went to Hendrick Motorsports. After all this was Jeff Gordons and Jimmie Johnsons team. How many wins and Championships did they have between them?I was excited when you won the Budweiser Shootout. Your first race in the 88 car.You were running up front almost every week. You won at Michigan. You should have won at Richmond when Kyle Busch wrecked you at the end of the race. But then the wheels just seemed to fall off.I was disappointed when you had a string of problems on pit road last year. You said yourself that you lost confidence when that happened.Coming down pit road and getting in your stall is like breathing. You dont even think it when youre doing it, you just do it.It really made me start thinking about it, and I backtracked I actually got a complex about it and became sort of something I definitely was not confident about. ~ Dale Earnhardt Jr as quoted in The Sporting News.I was disappointed when drivers, broadcasters and fans seemed to be turning against you after last years Daytona 500, blaming you for the big wreck. Ive watched the replays closely, and you were obviously forced into that position. The wreck was, as they say, just racing. Were just going to go out there and try our hardest and be ruthless from the first lap to the last. ~ Dale Earnhardt JrI was disappointed when Rick Hendrick took Tony Eury Jr away from you rather that giving the two of you the support you needed. And I was disappointed when the 2009 season ended without seeing you in Victory Lane. But I am encouraged by what I hear from you this year. You sound excited and ready to get down to business.I especially like what you said about being ruthless. Were just going to go out there and try our hardest and be ruthless from the first lap to the last, Earnhardt Jr said.Dale Jr, this is going to be your year. This is going to be your year.I believe you can do it.But more importantly, I believe that you believe that you can do it.Can Dale Jr do it in 2011?This was taken from Race win for your enjoyment

A wild west show at the local track

Local and Regional Short Track Racing

Seems as there was a show down of sorts in Tn this weekend at Bobby Hamilton's track when he diqualified a car for weight. Well either the discussion got heated enough that Bobby,as big as he is, kinda feared for his ass-cets or either a point needed to be made. Either way a wepon was brandished and it became a he said she said sequal to the local law. More to this I think, you know anything???

The Big Move and its not west either

Current NASCAR

Well the move is on at Hendricks and it seems as though Jr and JJ will be rooming partners in a sense. Now the big question is will the vast knowledge thats supposedly housed in the 48 bldg be bestowed upon the 88 team? It seems as though he has the crew chief of 24 and the floor space once walked by Jeff will the MoJo that he had be left for Jr to continue with?? That being said Jr still has to be a better wheelman than he showed in 2010.. This will either hush the rumors you hear or show the door to the driver, outside that is.So as we set around sipping that hot chocolate as Tim so loves we can ponder as to who will come out of the gate in a sprint and who comes out for the long haul. But you can be assured of two things --11 and 18 will start just like they finished the year, charging to the front --now will Toyota prevail? or will the horse become supreme, or maybe the Bow tie can conquer the house of the rising sun and tame that quarter horse--just may be a season to watch especially if Brian shakes up stuff as he is hinting -----or do you have other ideas??????-----------------------------memories

A Discussion over Mustang and Camero

Current NASCAR

Seems as though Ford wants Chevrolet to get on the stick with Camero------B U T, GM says they dont want to cut the camero up to fit the template. They want to keep the shape the car has, Makes sense doesnt it.Now Ford is wanting the Mustang in Sprint Cup because it has been said that the Fusion is not their Super Car, Mustang is. If Ford wins on Sunday with a Fusion nobody pays much attention on Monday--but--if Mustang wins on Sunday there is excitement on Monday at the dealerships.(sound familar?)So to get Camero out there it looks like they gonna have to slack up on that template. That way the body will fit and GM will be happy, the fans will be happy and Ford will too. Oh yeah wont that allow Chrysler to ease the Challenger back on the track too??So it boils down to wiil they?? Should they?? Can they?? you answer these and maybe good ole Brain will say "awww heck what have we got to loose ,go for it"--- What you say???????

Out with the Old and in with the New

Current NASCAR

How about a quick spin through this years racing. and a little next for yearFirst off we all know Jimmie Johnson is the 5 time champion even as bad as some dislike him he can drive. The only thing that may upset him is if Chad or Rick does not agree next year. Then you have Kyle Bush, now the guy can drive,he may be the best there is in Nascar. He has pulled off feats no one else has accomplished before. He opened his own truck team and in one year look where he is. True his inexperience and hot head has cost him a ton on and off the track but he is mellowing slowly. Jr is just being Jr for a little while longer,he and Jeff now have swapped teams and crew chiefs so next year will be worth watching on that account . Mark Martin ,well he is just having fun, but next year may be his shining hour.Kevin has gotten himself into the groove at RCR, and folks have come to admire his flair for getting to the front. A Dale Sr. he never will be but he is cutting a chunk off that lightered knot so he will be lighting his own fires next year on the way to the front.Richard Petty has finally eased himself back in the drivers seat ,kinda, so his two cars with the blue oval under the hood should be up front on a regular basis this coming year. Dont overlook a silent head that may be popping up in his corner whispering trade secrets in his ear either. His two cars have been in the hunt on a regular basis in 2010 too.Denny is due so dont blink your eyes on him or you may miss the premier move he starts with at Daytona and continues on through the season for 2011.Tony is ,well Tony and Ryan are both on a winning team, they just got to get the little bugs out of their closet then they are home free. Next year they will be dancing with the clouds in Daytona trying to get that presidented trophy, a first and second for them would be a blessing in disguise.Jamie McMurry is a diamond thats finally being polished into a gem or maybe better, time will tell next year. The RCR stables will be holding camp with a vengeance in 2011 so please dont get blown away by the force within them.Cusin Carl is justa waiting to go flying back up in the stands again in Daytona to celebrate with his fans. That really has given him credibility this year. The rest of the field will be within a tenth off the leader so its any ones guess how they will shake out the order but you can well bet its going to be a doozy.Ole Baby Boy Brian may listen to the voices in the air and straighten up this points situation in 2011 so thats another factor to calculate in also. Now how all this pans out and what the fans,or lack of do so the sponsors will belly up to the bar and start persuading Baby Boy to do better is still out in the surf waiting for the tide to wash in so lets quietly set on the beach in our recliners and watch a minor or major (maybe) miracle happen. Now while all this is panning out in Nascar we got a little bit of sprucing up to do in our corner too. We got more Reunions on the books this year than ever before so all yall get that horse and buggy greased up and ready to ride the trail because its going to be almost but not quite more fun than the law allows. That is unless Cody gets them boys above the pool hall to start early this year. If that happens well Jr,the one in the mountains, may crank up an old coach ready to rock and roll, I better leave that alone for now.So as you see there is a lot afixin to take place and iffin it all works as planned man we going to have us a whale of a racin season. Now I know of at least eleven of yall just chompin at the bits to put your two cents worth in there so go fer it----oh wait, ----- got to mind my manners here,--- Ladies First!!!!!!

An interesting piece wrote pertaining Jr's crew chief or???

I have to agree wholeheartedly with the comments already made. It would be lunacy to break up a team that has nailed down five Championships(?) in a row, and it's more than apparent that there is no sentiment involved with decisions at HMS. But something is wrong with this equation.

If Letarte is the next great hope for Junior, why hasn't he done better for Jeff, who like Junior, is enduring a long winless streak. With teams cutting back on cars...Petty cutting two, Penske cutting one and a couple of smaller ones not coming back at all... it seems there would be enough qualified men out there to go around without gutting Jeff's team of a crew chief.

Now, one has to wonder...where is the other shoe and when will it drop. Rick Hendrick is anything but stupid, and he is not about to act without a reason. Now, I know this has been denied on all fronts and laughed at by some, but nothing at that level of commerce happens without a plan. Just suppose that the plan is to replace Letarte with someone better on the #24 team...someone with a proven track record and multiple Championships with...umm, let's see...that would be the #24 team.

I know that Ray said he wasn't interested in being a crew chief, but I also know that Rick Hendrick is an expert in knowing exactly which carrot to dangle to get the desired results. Would it really surprise anyone here if there were to be a reunion between Evernham and Gordon? I don't know any more than anyone else about what's really going on, but it sure seems to make perfect sense to me.

Johnny, was that what you were fishing for when you cast out that bait? :)
