a barn find for someone hunting a car to restore. an old grand national racecar from the 60's

Stock Car Racing History

I just went over to the Bring a Trailer site and they have posted on it that the car sold for $16,600.00 That show me I think Shaun is sincere in his plight to restore the ole gal to her original racing glory and not a shiny 65 that may never see dust again. Now to share in the hunt for a real period correct motor for the gal--look behind the barn too!!!

Well I went to the Bring a Trailer site and they show the car sold for$16,600.00-----whew that shows that Shaun is going to make the ole gal back into what she was not a shiny 65 that may never enjoy dust on her again. Now the hunt is on for an engine that had a number one hit about it in the 60's . Be sure you look behind the barn too

well the ole gal should be in sunny california by now and the ga dust could be flying around the shop out there as the ghosts of races gone by set out to survey their new or temporary home.could be that this new cowboy straddling this once famous (but not forgotten) Race horse can get a grip on her and bring her back to the life she once had. Only time will tell and photos will verify that Shaun is the man with the wand and can bring her back to her beauty--Shaun,you can kiss her after she is washed

Well unless you were the one who placed the winning bid of $16600.00 for the impala then I guess you are out of luck. Someone bought themselves a real piece of history there. Now if we can keep up with where the car goes and who bought it there may be chance we will see this car again in the future at a Stock Car Racers Reunion gathering. Only time will tell, but you can rest assured it was a great fathers day present!!!

well the current bid is $10,100.00 so I guess its not such a good barn find even if it comes with the original 409 as described in notes. Oh well deeper pockets can play with that one in their own back yard..

Nascar in a Barn: 1965 Chevrolet Impala

This 1965 Chevrolet Impala belongs to a seller who claims that he has had the car in storage for nearly 30 years and that it is one of the Tom Hunter team cars driven by Roy Mayne in the 1965 and 1966 NASCAR seasons. The car wears Maynes name, the #46 that he raced with, and the right sponsor lettering. Mayne was no joke, finishing 4th at Darlington in 1965 and having five top-10 finishes in 1966, but it looks to be undocumented as to whether any of those results were in this actual car. Find it here on eBay in Royston, Georgia.

Dont everyone bid at one time now but its at $3850.00 now so it could be a buy for someone, looks authentic

Win on Sunday Sell on Monday--remember this???

Current NASCAR

If NASCAR wants to put more fans in the grandstands and in front of their TVs they need to make the cars that win on Sunday look more like the cars you can actually buy on Monday instead of the cookie cutter cars that are racing now! .

They have at least taken steps in the right direction. The wing or otherwise known as the bleacher seat is gone and the spoiler is back. Next year in the Nationwide Series Ford plans to race a Mustang and Dodge is bringing a Challenger. There is talk that those same cars could also come to Sprint Cup.

Changes to the front end on Sprint Cup race cars seem to be all but a done deal.

Chevy just doesnt get it, though. They are planning on racing an Impala, an Impala? thats grandmas car now, when they could be bringing a Camaro. Yup a Camero, almost a mean looking car again.

You know the car companies have a big say in what races on the track. If Chevy would race a Camaro it would bring some added excitement to racing and help sell more cars for Chevrolet. A Camaro would be good for NASCAR and Chevrolet.

But Chevy is at least keeping an open mind and listening to race fans who cant believe that GM would pass on the opportunity to race the Camaro GM racing boss Pat Suhy said Ill never say never when asked about the possibility of a Camaro in NASCAR. But so far the word from GM to NASCAR and race fans everywhere is no.

With Mustang, Camaro and Challenger to racing in the Sprint Cup Series with bodywork that actually looks like the cars down the street in the showroom fans would become more engaged with NASCAR.

There is no Ford vs. Chevy rivalry any more. Thats because no one can tell them apart on the race track. Come on NASCAR give us our stock cars back.

I know you have a lot of smart engineers working in your R&D Facility in Charlotte. Together with the automaker engineers I know you can come up with a car that looks like a stock car and still keep the cars even aerodynamically.

Would a Camaro, a Mustang, a Challenger and Toyotas new sports car make NASCAR more exciting for you? Would you be more likely to buy one?
Whats your take on this, would you like to see a Camero vs Mustang vs Challenger vs Toyota whatever ??

Make yourself be heard on this subject, if you are reading this you have a computer, send a message to GM,to Nascar heck send one to Obama, seems as though he and his wife toyed with owning the big two

I have a Question thats haunting me on this weekends racing

Stock Car Racing History

Last year almost this time Scott Kalletta lost his life in NJ. where he lost his chute on a track way to short to allow a back up plan on stopping. Then again this week the same thing happened,a car lost its chute which cost the death of another driver.

Question being why are they allowing this speed directly into a wall if no chute deploys. Short and simple if Nascar has a car climb a wall they build a catch net to not allow it again, if walls were to hard the safer barriers were installed. if a car gets airborn flaps are installed to prevent this but we just dont drive into a wall head on. I might be crude in my description but that doesnt seem to be a win situation at all, but then again I may be wrong. Whats your opinion on this, or am I wrong on what I think Im seeing here.
