How Many Drivers Competed in Winston Cup?
Stock Car Racing History
I'm glad that I just read the posts instead of giving the correct answer. That would have ruined it.
Later ya'll.

Thanks Dave,
I remember the car.
I was probably at the track when this was taken although I moved from Lantana Florida, just below West Palm in 1962 and came to Georgia.
I was born in Robertson County Tenn just above Nashville and we moved to Florida when I was 8 years old. We moved to Ga. in 1962 and been here ever since.
My Mother was from Georgia. Wheeler County. She was a Sutton.
My original home track PKL although it was paved when I started in 1956.
It was built as an oil/dirt track. Very fast with banked turns. Half mile.
I went to my first stock car race there as a kid in 1952. I was hooked.
It was one of the most popular tracks in the country when it was dirt.
It was NASCAR Sanctioned and ran weekly races Modified/Sportsman and ran year round. The drivers from the north came down and raced in the winter.
There were usually two to three Grand National races a year held at the track.
Sad to say the track is no longer there. There is a road course on the site now. Palm Beach International Speedway or Raceway (not sure) which.
I had better hurry up and get over there to see the place once more before Tiger sells it.
Plus he said that if I came over he would buy my lunch.
Remember Tiger? I was with Ken Ragan and we were talking to you on the phone and you said that IF I came over, which you did not believe that I would, you would buy my lunch.
Take care Tiger. Hope to see you soon. Good luck on your sell.
I did not say that stock cars are safe. I said that they were safer.
My grandson Tommy Clinard Jr. started in Karts at age 12 and was quite good at it winning many races. He only ran on the dirt tracks.
But I was so glad when he started racing in the stock cars. Much safer than the Karts.
He never had a serious injury but was shaken up several times.
The ones that he raced were the open type. No roll bars or seat belt. They reached speeds of 50 - 60 miles per hour.
But the experience that he gained in the Karts has been a big benefit to him in the cars.
I can't honestly say that Charlotte was boring but I can say that Indy was one of the best races, open wheel or full body cars, that I have seen in a looong time.
I didn't miss a lap.
I did miss a few at Charlotte. That race is just to long.
It was good to see Kasy win. I thought that Jr. had a chance but he faded as he usually does. Don't know what his problem is. Maybe he's points racing. ????
Thanks for the mention Cody. Brendan is actually my great grandson. He really enjoyed the time that he spent with you answering your questions about the olden day's. He is still up on cloud nine. He is looking forward to a trip to the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame. Once inside it will be a task to get him out. Thanks again.
It was really a great reunion. I was able to see a lot of old friends that one only has the chance to visit withthanks toevents like this.
When the order was given to fire the engines there was first the roar of the motors then the smell followed by the hair standing out on your arms then the goose bumps then the closed eyes and going back 28+ years..........WOW what memories.
Thanks everyone. Job WELL done.
I would Tim. Even one shorter.
On another note. Danica is not only good looking she is a good race car driver. True she has won 1 IRL race. So what. You can still be a good racecar driver and not win any races.
Look how long it took Dale Sr. to win the Daytona 500. Mark Martin has never won it.
Too much imphasis is put on winning. Consistency is what counts. Just give her time. Let her run a full season concentrating on the stock cars instead of going back and forth between NASCAR and the IRL.
She was running a good race Thursday until she was caught up in someone else's mishap. Can't fault her with that one.
I didn't hear Pearson bad mouth anybody in his interview.
Wouldn't that be nice if we didn't bad mouth everybody and his brother or in this case sister.
Oh well. It's a wonderful world but small to some.
