Question of the Day for March 29,2011

General

If you add all of the other driver's wins the way that the media has added Kyle Busch's wins then Richard Petty would be far down the list.

This is NASCAR wins in ALL Divisions. Think about it!!!

Question of the Day for March 29,2011

General

No way should the wins in all of the series be lumped together. Does all of the other drivers, Allison, Pearson, etc., etc., have all of their victories counted. Wonder where theywould stand on the list. The media is making a big deal out of this. Too big in fact.

Question of the Day for March 23, 2011

General

I went to my first race at Palm Beach Speedway (Florida) in 1952. At that time Palm Beach was a 1/2 mile oiled dirt track. It was a NASCAR Modified/Sportsman event. I went with a neighbor from South Bay, Fla. Shorty Shiver, who had a 1940 Ford Modified race car. John Ellison was the driver. I thought that I had died and gone to heaven. What a sight to see all of those race cars power sliding through the turns and the sound and the smell was something I had never witnessed before. I was hooked. I kept attending the races with my Father and Motherof and onuntil 1955 when I was a co-builder of a NASCAR Amateur car. A 1935 Ford coupe. It was wrecked the first time out and was destroyed. I started driving in 1956 and continued until 1977 until it got just too expensive to run for me. But I enjoyed every minute of it.

MGR Reunion

General

I agree Jack. Well done Johnny. I too met many that I had not seen in years. There were many more drivers that showed up on Sat. and it was good seeing them again. I know that my grandson was in heaven when Bobby Allison posed with him and my son beside their racecar. I heard so many talking about what a great event and all asking the same question. Are there future plans to start racing again at MGR? When the race cars cranked their engines and the sound vibrated off the front stretch wall and the smellof racing fumes filled the airit caused many to have chills run up their spines and tears come to their eyes.....including mine. What a great time we had. Thanks to ALL that had anything to do with putting this event on. Hopefully this is one of many to come at MGR.

Fox 24 Coverage of Jeff Smith Chevrolet Middle Georgia RacersReunion

Stock Car Racing History

Just to clarify my statement about outrunning Bill Elliott.

This was just after Bill got started in racing and long before he was known as Awesome Bill.

But I will still stick by my statement. " I used to outrun Bill Elliott."

By the way this was a great piece that Fox 24 Macon did on the upcoming Racer's Reunion.

Also thanks to Jeff Smith Chevrolet for coming onboard as the Title Sponsor of the Reunion.

Hope that everyone will come out as it will be a GREAT event. See Ya There.

Looking for Lee Petty photos

General

The picture that I have posted on Racer's Reunion was given to my wife Marilynn by Frank Swain a long time NASCAR Official. As explained we did not know that my Father was in the picture until a couple of years ago. Marilynn was just a kid when this was given to her not long after this race was run. That was before I knew her. Her Father Bud Berry was also a NASCAR Official andflag manat Palm Beach Speedway. If you need to use the picture and need a copy email me at Maritom3@att.net.

Dale Jr resigning with Hendrick???

Current NASCAR

AMEN Wally...Well said. Also AMEN to the talent. Look at the results of other drivers too...even the Hendrick team other than the #48. Nobody is setting the woods on fire.

Do you know the meaning of being Humilated in public

Current NASCAR

Just my two (2) cents worth on this. I do not want to see JJ win his 5th championship. Especially 5 in a row. But, after several repeat mistakes made by the Lowe's pit crew that caused JJ several positions on the race track, what else was Chad to do. A quote byJJ after the race was, "In any other sport if one is not performing as they should a substitution is made." This has been done before except to my knowledge not during a race. Richard Childress did it. Gibbs did it. Several have done it. It just boils down to performance. Rick Hendrick signs the pay checks. If it's OK with him then so be it. I'm sure that this has taken the wind out of their sails but, these are professional athletes. They should just suck it up and practice, practice, practice until they are doing their best with no mistakes. The front tire changer on the 48 probably should be benched for the rest of the season and then he should practice to do it right especially under the pressure that must have been on all of the crew. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Give the guys a chance. But, Gooo Harvick. Beat both of them.
