Some like it ----Some dont --- What do you think

Current NASCAR

If the track is clear race back to the flag stand and then throw the caution. If the track is is not clear or bad situation such as fire or car upside down etc. then throw the caution and the field is frozen.

Can't wait to see what it looks like after Sat. Johnny. Heavy equipment coming in then and we will be clearing the infield. It looks like a forest now.

REAL modifieds

General

Let's talk about the real modified's. The birth of the real modified. Take a 1934 Ford and start building using very little else in the body or frame except strengthening the front end, steering, shocks, etc..Roll bar over the driver from one side to the other with a bar on each side running down to the frame. A plywood bucket seat and a lap belt both coming from an airplane. A 59A block. built from scratch to your specs in your shop. Put a half hood on it so the Offenhauser or Edelbrock finned heads would show. Three Stromberg 97's. Truck radiator. Headers. There were not many to choose from in the early fifties or you built them yourself. Groove a set of truck tires for the rear and right front and a small automobile tire for the left front. No face in the steering wheel either. Power steering? Never heard of it! Wedges to place between the leaf springs (ran from one side to the other, front and rear), and the frame crossmember to put wedge into the car. Your choice of three speed transmission and rear end. Hook on the dash for second gear for many tracks. This kept it from jumping out of gear when you decelerated for the turns. Then apply all of the little tricks that you learned from experience and then go racing. It was fun.....Not much money....but a heck of a lot of enjoyment. Too bad we can't go back....... or can we?

RacersReunionmania and RacersReunion Nation

General

Whatevermania....it is I love it. Thanks Jeffmania and all of you other mania's for letting me relive my past and enjoying the past of people that I did not even know and would probably have never known if not for Racer's Reunion. But we all have one thing in common....Racing The Way It Used To Be. Love it. You are correct Johnny...no engineers, chasis men, body men, motor men. Just a man and a machine. Some walk on helpers that received no pay. Just a love for racing. A small shop behind the house. 40 hour a week regular job. But come Sat. night it was time to race. Tow it behind the car or if you were really lucky load it up on the trailer and off to the local race track. Let's hope that the countless hours you spent in that little shop behind the house and after your 8 hr. regular job would pay off and the car would be ready to race. There they were people just like you with a love of racing ready to compete against you. Maybe if you ran good you may get enough of the purse to pay your expenses. But, the biggest reward was being able to race. So now this old body of mine is 75 years old but Racer's Reunion takes me back to my youth and what a trip it is. As DW would say, "Let's Go Racing Boy's". (Sorry 'bout that Tim.) And race we do if only in our dreams of a time that was...........Memorymania.

Race car haulers

General

I used anythig from a chain, towbar. open one axle trailer, open 2 axle trailer, to a flatbed truck. No one had an enclosed trailer at the tracks that I ran when I gave it up in 1977.My career was from 1956-1977 at tracks mainly in Florida and Georgia.

Trivia

A Hydrolic roller LT4 Hot Cam .525 lift on both intake and exhaust. That should rumble the parking lot.

ANYBODY WATCH THE 1 1/2 MILE DIRT TRACK RACE TONITE?

Current NASCAR

They were hung out were they not?Any race is a good race as long as Kyle "Cry Boy" Busch does not win.I wish that "Onion" Bodine had hit him in his snooty nose when he came up to him after the truck raceand fussed about "Onion" saying that he drove him dirty. "Onion" was wrong but that is about the only time that Busch hasn't driven someone dirty. Ask Brad Keselowski.
