Buck Simmons
Stock Car Racing History
Rest in Peace Buck!
Even though I have nothing to go on but old race footage and interviews...that type of stuff, I like Harry, and I think he would be great for the job.
BTW, what is old Handsome Harry doing these days? Is he still doing roofs, or is he too old? I know he sold his steakhouse back years ago.

Why even wait that long?? lol
Dave, what I was saying was...according to racing reference (which it could be wrong) was that the Chevy was driven in the MARCH Bristol race. And what do you mean about the Osterland car? Did you put a picture up?
Junie probably bought the Rudd owned car for some races in early 79', changed the number, sponsor, and updated the front clip. I'll bet the car was wrecked sometime after this, and the Torino/Thunderbird, what ever it was was used the rest of the season.
But one thing puzzles me.....if this is the spring race in March.....why was it ran at night? Rain delay? Or could this possibly be the summer race and racing reference got the dates wrong???
I only saw the last restart (19 to go) and it looked like it was a freakin' spectator race crowd or something. I'll bet if they left it at the short track, it would've been full! And plus, Nascar really screwed Elliott Sadler....they want a rookie, in a black #3 to win the championship................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Even though on not as big of scale as Nascar...I work media and announcing. But when in Nascar...why would you even want autographs since you see the guys every single week....sometimes 3-4 times a week.
Yeah on the #9....on the brochure, it said it was the one that went 212.809, but that was an 85' model, not a 87' bird. Two totally different animals, or t-birds! But when I looked at it, it had the correct information on the board that said it was the one that made up two laps under green during the 85' Winston 500. It was cool.....but we've still got 6 of em', so Hah!
But really, I enjoyed seeing every car. If I clean/dust or wax the cars at our museum (roughly 30 cars, give or take a few) it takes me a while if I do a good job....I couldn't imagine doing over 100+
Like I said, I'm ready to go back!
Just for you Johnny.....
That's Ron Boushard (I know I spelled it wrong! lol) 1981 Talladega winner
Well......that'll give some more to ooogle over for a while!
Thanks Jimmy. I visited Memory Lane when we did the whole 'Mooresville Experience' back in October of 2007 when we went to most of the shops, fanfares, museums, and then wound up with free tickets to the race too!Unfortunately, I've only been back that a way only once since then and didn't have time to stop at the museum....one day. I'll get my license in October.
