Discontinuance of March Atlanta race

Current NASCAR

The Boyz are playing a board game. Ryan Newman and Denny Hamlin know what the rules are .....nowWho ever decided to take Darlington's Labor day slot was smoking crackBrutus Smith and others do not believe in building the community but would rather go to where the money is. Any one who has been to North Wilkesboro or Rockingham knows that they need help but again "The Boyz" do not see it that way.

WHAT NASCAR LEARNED AT POCONO TODAY

General

Safer barriers on the inside rails would help but Pocono's biggest problem is the grass on the back side of the track. It's over when a car get's on it. The entire area should be paved. When Greg Moore was killed in Fontanna several years ago they paved the entire section on the back stretch.Petty suffered a broken neck there in 1980 when he was hit in the drivers door by Darrell Waltrip. Also there has been more than one driver who has broken the boiler plate in turn one backing in hard. This track is treacherous for sure and is the most dangerous facility they run on.

Hamlin & Newman Correct / Fines Suck

Current NASCAR

Nascar maybe fools but if you make a living from it then keep quite. The same thing happens in any other sport or business for that matter.

Edwards should get more than this

General

Brad got probation to prevent retaliation. There are the best, then there is the rest. We saw the rest on Satruday night.

I can't take this sitting down. To let Duck Boy off so lightly and then to penalize Brad at all is very poor judgment on the part of NASCAR. I have been trying to give NASCAR every benefit of the doubt, even after the debacle caused by Duck Boy at Atlanta in March, but this is utterly and downright stupid. A fine of $25,000.00?????
Ask some of the guys who had their cars destroyed by the immature actions of the featherbrain how much it is going to cost to fix their cars. Even further, the sad part is that Duck Boy will always believe he is above reproach, above the rules, and above it all. It would almost be worth filing suit against NASCAR to have them explain why Brad was penalized 60 points. What did he do? What action did he initiate that wasn't the usual "move the car out of the way" like he did Duck Boy coming out of turn 2. I am totally incensed over this inability of NASCAR to find one individual within the entire organization who has enough intelligence and guts to make appropriate and just rulings. Frankly, this angers me!
Time for me to hush. I'm about to get out of hand. If I had an AFLAC policy, I would cancel that sucker right now.
Tim
It is not AFLAC's fault that Edwards is an idiot. maybe AFLAC will cancel their sponsorship, probably should. I wonder how may drivers have AFLAC ?

Cousin Carl Edwards, you tell me

General

It is like this. Brad does need more expereince because he should have known that Carl would not be up to a warm and fuzzy bump and run. Think about it.All to often we see drivers not having respect for eachother let alone the sport in general. Nascar opened themsleves to criticism by letting them "Have at IT".No disrespect but Dale Earnhardt had a free pass for a long time and Nascar did nothing about it to speak of. Curtis Turner may have been the original Hard head untill he clipped Lee Petty one day the caught a crow bar to his head.Carl and Brad are canceling eachother out and time will tell if either will amount to much of anything in this sport.

Where were the fans

If Atlanta is going to be a meaningless pre chase race then the other 25 mean nothing as well ? The sport has become watered down big time and Bruton Smith is a disgrace.Losing the Southern 500 was a slap in the face and dropping Wilkesboro was just as bad, lets add the Rock. These three tracks were driver and fan favorites but money rules.Dont mess with Bruton with his infinite wisdom to roll North Wilkesboro for Loudon and now he is threatening to drop a loudon race. It was also very nice when he threatened to bulldoze Charlotte if they did not let him have a drag strip.Does Bruton the "Brutus" Smith live in Fort Knox ? Has to keep safe somehow.

Brandon and Bobby both make very good points that are hard to discount. Nascar has homogenised the sport and indeed the romance is gone.If the fans have lost a connection with drivers I think they have also have lost it with the cars. The American love affair with the automobile is a large part of our culture but no longer can we relate to what is on the track as to what we drive. For sure the Golden Goose has been feathered and we can thanks the boys in Daytona Beach.

Tim, I do not recall seeing any fan activity on the back at Daytona for a long time ? If not mistaken quite a bit of it does not even have stands.I am probablyt geezin. Regardless alot of this has to do with the economy. People are holding on to their wallets waiting for the next shoe to drop and there has been alot of shoes dropping in the last couple of years with more to come. Tim Leeming said:
Harvey, this is something I have been noticing all season. Daytona on July 3rd looked pretty good until you consider the back straight grandstands weren't even open. The economy seems to be front and center in all such conversations, but it must be more than that. We'll just have to wait. I was amazed, however, with the number of race fans within easy driving distance of "Chicagoland" that there weren't more there.
