All Time Greatest Dirt Racers

Stock Car Racing History

Chubby Thompkins, Porky Edwards, Larry Phillips, Farmer John Matthews... Sam Ard was no slouch on dirt either! He was very good!

WAKE UP SLEEPY

Stock Car Racing History

The bottom picture of Slick and Rex remind me of the ''little doggy bobble head'' figurines that my dad used to have in the back window of his 51 Studebaker. Kinda, sorta.

Terrific picture Laverne.

Danica a 9th-15th Place Nationwide Driver Says McReynolds

Stock Car Racing History

David , I do not know anything at all about JRM but what I see from my outside looking in viewpoint..From that viewpoint I am seeing exactly what you are describing spot on. I wish you could say more but I totally understand your last sentence..Not being a real Larry Mac fan I will in this instance say that I also agree with that assessment as well...Although I hate to say it, this article seems to sum up JRM pretty neatly! Thanks again.

Remember J D Mcduffie today

Stock Car Racing History

Thanks for this great article Dave..It contains a few facts about Teenie and his Brothers that I did not know...Jim was as laid back, easy going and on an even keel as much as anyone I ever met..At that time of my life I was a lot younger and full of water and vinegar so to speak and Teenie was THE ONE that was able to get me to keep my focus and don't get rattled by circumstance....He definitely had duck feathers on his back as anything would roll right off. I would hire Teenie Fox for my shop just for morale alone if for no other reason...Thank you again Dave.

Not changing the subject Dave, but it was an experience to hear Teenie describe anything...Super guy to work with. Wonder what has become of him, do you have any idea?

Jay,

It has been my experience that the references give the wrong car make / model on many occasions. And you are correct the Ellington car at Daytona in '81 was not Olds it was a Buick Regal.

What's in a Picture

Stock Car Racing History

What I do see is Bennett Allen racing for FUN, leading the jalopy race on a Sunday afternoon in his RED studebaker #4, and probably having a blast doing so...What I do not see is BIG MONEY and all that stuff that goes with it. Car racing at it's purest form and I had no idea just what I was witnessing at that time but it was entertaining!
