In 1963 A local promoter came up with a "wrassling" black Bear. He was about 250 pounds and was trained to stand up and put one paw around your waist and the other around your neck and you did the same to him. He was on a stout 15' chain and was wearing a mask on his face. After he threw your A-- on the mat ( always in a puddle of bear pis- ) He got a pop bottle full of sugar Kool Aid. I was talked into trying him and had the crap scared outta me when his handler said "What ever you do dont cuff him ,he will slap your head off" I dont know which was worse having a rancid smell for weeks in my race suit and car or having my wife and son see me last about 7 or 8 seconds. lol.... If I can find the pictures I'll post them and TMC can have a big laugh. .....

I was surfing thru the TV channels earlier this week and came across a short video clip of an interesting concept. The cars were racing with a car upside down strapped to the roof and roll cage. Talk about body roll and having to soft peddle the turns. It really looked like fun. Dont know where or when it happened, Maybe someone else saw it and can fill in that info.

Jim, There's a nice country neighborhood on Rte. 515 just north of New Smyrna Speedway here in Florida. Its about 2 miles from the track, Its called " A quiet place in the country"... There's a nice house on about 5 acres real near the track and he has a big ornate sign out front that says " A noisy place in the country"... At least he's creative and has a sense of humor....

Actually Johnny, What I'm saying is he won more money in 15th place than 4th thru 14th won.

I'm setting here looking at a payout slip from Aug 18th, 1963 at West Va. Int. Speedway where 20th place paid more than 14th thru 19th and ran 182 laps LESS than 14th place. Might be cause it was Jr. Johnson. Maybe he had a special deal...lol

In fact, Richard was awarded 14th or 15th place as I recall and actually received a bigger payout then anyone who DIDNT finish in the top 3 positions... Now thats leading a bunch of laps... Go Fords...lol

I know Eddie McDonald has 700 plus wins in his long and great career.... Me, Myself have 7 wins before I started running just vintage races and I have 84 there. Big time eh? lol....By the way I believe I have run against the car in photo at Columbia County Speedway on asphalt and also at North Florida Speedway on Dirt. By the way the photo loaded fine for me.
