What was your handle?

General

My crew gave me the handle of Top Cat. Or sometimes they just used T.C. My CB Radio was stolen out of the truck at the Old Queen City Speedway in Ohio. Someone smashed the passenger window and ripped the wires out. Must have been young kids or green horns as the leads had quick disconnects and the drivers door was un-locked..lol...never replaced it after that.

Latest Trick

Current NASCAR

You just never know what you'll see on our web site,lol...The J2 57 Chevy of one of my old club members, Jake Jacobs running with The 65 Chevelle # 3X3 of my ole Nemesis, Clint Hamilton of Gainesville, Fla. Clint and I had our moments both on the track and in the pits but he was/is a great driver. I'm attaching a photo of the #3X3 and my old modified coupe of a few years back.

Lowe's Sponsorship in Racing

Current NASCAR

After the Hurricanes of 2004 gave me over $28,000 in damages to my house and Race Shop I got to do a ton of shopping at the Lowes and Home Depot stores closest to my house. I never went to Home Depot without having several people ask me if I needed help. They also Had lots of cashiers ready to check out. At Lowes I always had to learn the location of items I needed and walk all the way down to the contractor checkout as there was usually only one or two cashiers working.

Since JJ has been by favorite driver until I switched to Bad Brad this year I certainly hope the reduced profits is not reflected in their NASCAR program. We need all the big sponsors we can keep as I feel the way Jeff does. Not as secure about the future of our sport as I once was.

Age old discussion, to date who is the best to ever sit in the seat of a race car.....

Stock Car Racing History

Dave, So very well put. We have been blessed with a bunch of good ole boy's that can really make a car respond. I have seen a ton of the name drivers both in the South and in New York and they ALL could drive the hell outta those cars. I remember one night at New Smyrna in Feb. about 10 years ago when I regretted having an open face helmet. My old modified might have only been doing 80-90 mph but with no windshield I swear my eye balls froze. Please lets add the 57 chevy's too.

Jim, Somehow I dont see you pulling over for anybody. lol....I know I have been very careful when I could hear the 180 degree crank motor of Pat McNear's 71 camaro coming up behind my old modified coupe when we would have to run together for car count... I thanked him several times for having a unique sound as a signal to ease over and let him go.

Latest Pet Peeve

Current NASCAR

lol.....Dave I had thought the same thing.. I hate it when paid announcers say dumb things. My son and I was watching a basketball game that was tied at 76-76 late in the game and the nitwit on the mic said " this is the closest the game has been since it was nothing to nothing"......

What's in a Picture

Stock Car Racing History

I've been to several dirt tracks that have asked all the cars to come out after the watering down or dragging and help "run" the track in. I have several photo's that show several different classes together and even a few with the cars running slowly the wrong direction..

House Defeats Ga. Congressman's Bill to End Military Sponsorships 216-202; Martial Music Also Survives

Current NASCAR

Sounds to me like he does know what he's talking about. His statement that "we need to hire more recruiters" is what is needed is incorrect.. We dont hire civilian contract recruiters. The ones I have seen and talked to are all military people. Why not just train or re-train and assign them as recruiters....Two years ago NASCAR asked myself and 3 of my fellow club members to display our cars at the track outside the 4th turn. We were parked next to the 88 car and the National Guard men and women that were there. The steady parade all day long for 3 days was very impressive. I don't know how many they recruited but they certainly had thousands to talk to as they gave out posters of Dale,Jr. and the 88 car.

Living Legends of Auto Racing to honor one of our own in Feb at Daytona

Stock Car Racing History

I encourage any of our R/R members that want to attend to get their ticket reservations in early. It $50 per ticket, w/ dinner and parking or $500.00 for a corporate table. I really look forward to it each year and am excited about meeting Billy and his wife.
