Speedway Corporation Sells New York Land At Loss(Daytona Beach, FL) -- International Speedway Corporation spent more than 110-million-dollars on a 676-acre parcel of land back in 2004 when the popularity of NASCAR was rising about as fast as real estate values.Today, viewership is on the decline and ticket sales have slumped with the recession which is why ISC has unloaded the property at a significant loss. KB Marine Holdings has reached a deal to buy the property for 80-million-dollars and will be paid a five-million-dollar bonus if it can close the deal before the end of the year.In a press release, the parent company of the Daytona International Speedway and other tracks around the country said KB Marine plans to use the land for logistic activities related to the nearby port, but offered no other specifics.J.C. The new area should debut in time for February's Daytona 500.NASCAR Raising Fences At Daytona Speedway(Daytona Beach, FL) -- Tony Stewart is going to have to climb a lot higher if he wins again at the Daytona International Speedway.NASCAR announced that it is raising the fences at both Daytona and the Talladega super speedways from 14 feet to 22 feet.The move was triggered following a safety review into April's wreck involving Carl Edwards at the Alabama track.The work should be completed in time for Speed Weeks next January.
