it is sad that the columbia speedway has been allowed to break down as it has . with it's history it seems that it should have receivd some recognition in some way. I don't think there is even a marker or plaque in it's honor I hope the reunion will be a beginning

I agree, Mark. That's why I will be volunteering this Saturday. To honor the history, drivers, and people involved from the 50's-70's. Take care.

Anyone who can see what happened after the first cleanpup day on Saturday, Feb. 21, will be amazed at the difference. Many weeds, brambles, other underbrush and a number of trees have been brought down, the entrance way has been cleared of a lot of debris. Devin did a terrific bit of work in cleaning up the old office and will start wielding a mean paint brush brefore long just becasue she wants to. Don't ever get in the way of a determined woman! We'll have more sessions to clean up the place leading up to the Love Chevrolet Columbia Speedway Festival on April 25.We had a great cadre of volunterrs on Day One...those who love the memories of those halcyon days of yore are invited to bring the rakes, brooms, trimmers, powered saws, axes and any other equipment...but mainly yourselves. You'll enjoy it.This was like a great party, there were lots of new friends made and none could be more generous with her snacks and drinks than Devin.Robbie Sosebee will keep you posted as to when the next cleanup will be. I vote for Saturday, Feb. 28.
